Custom carpentry is a specialized skill we offer at MTB. a special piece of furniture, a well done crown moulding, hand built solid wood cabinets, so long as its unique and of good quality, it can make all the difference in the world in a space.

<- This is an entirely custom piece I had the pleasure of building for my lovely partner. She wanted a space where she could keep her baking supplies, dry and store her herbs and jams, as well as her tea and other such tools and trinkets. We jokingly refer to it as her "green witch shelf".

I was lucky enough to find a good deal on a live edge elm slab for the counter. The rest of the piece is built almost entirely out of recycled materials, mostly pallets. There was some lumber bought for the top shelving as well as some custom trim, but the rest is reclaimed wood.

The shelf has become central piece of our kitchen routines, and a conversation piece for guests. The best compliment, however, is that she uses it everyday.

BONUS: See the last two photos to see the entertainment center that holds our desktop, television, and all the rest of our electronic equipment. It was also made using live edge slabs and up cycled lumber.

The Apothecary Shelf

-> During the 2020 COVID lock-downs, i, like many others, had quite a bit of time on my hands. I also had nowhere to go workout to get rid of that restless energy. Thus was born my timber power rack. I got a lot of healthy use out of this thing, and loved every minute of it. it was sturdy and stable enough to support me using the pull up bars, or whith as much weight as I could fit on it. Some people questioned its safety, but i was never concerned. They build houses out of 2x4 and 4x4s, with much more stress on them than I was excerting.

I wanted to take it further and sand and paint the whole thing, but, alas, life got in the way and I had to sell it when I moved.

Grandpas Cabinet

<-While it may be small beans, this cabinet remains to this day one of my favorite pieces I've ever built

A client that I was working for building a deck told me a story one day about a cabinet that his grandfather had built way back in the day. He showed it to me, and expressed that he wished he had another to share with his daughter. Well, we got to talking and one thing led to another, and I ended up creating this replica for him and his family.

The client was duly pleased and remarked on it accuracy to the original. I didn't make a fortune on the work by any means, but I felt wealthy in pride that day, having helped in my own small way to spread joy within this family.
